Cancellation Insurance – Whether You Take It or Not Could Be The Difference

Now that we’re getting into the winter season and there are lots of great last minute deals out there, there’s no better time to think about one more important component for your trip: Cancellation Insurance.

Of course, no one ever plans on cancelling their trip for no reason, but it’s those unexpected occurences that pop up, completely out of your control. It can be the difference of you getting on that plane, or sitting at home looking out your window at the horrible blizzard coming through your city.

What Does Weather Have to Do With Cancellation Insurance?

Some people do not think that cancellation insurance covers you for more than just sickness. It does. And the one thing that stands out at this time of year is Old Man Winter. We never know when he is going to hit, so the best thing is to be prepared. Yes, he can even wreak havoc on your trip, because if it’s bad enough out there, flights will be cancelled and you will be left at home with a nonrefundable trip.

One of our travel insurance providers that we highly recommend to our clients has coverage for Schedule Changes and Delays. If your vacation is affected for a period of at least 30% of your trip, you will be covered when you choose not to continue with your travel arrangements. The last thing you want to do is stay overnight in airports, hoping to get a flight out to paradise. If the unpredictable Canadian winters have its way, the only place you will be going is back home. As much as it sucks to think about, we do need to think about it, and be ready for it in case it does happen.

It’s better to be safe than sorry. Travel insurance gives that extra peace of mind that you know everything will be OK from the moment you’ve purchased your trip, and right through to your vacation. Cancellation Insurance will cover you before your trip, and the Interruption insurance will kick in from the moment you set foot on that plane. Just think of it this way: we buy car insurance with no questions asked, so we are covered in case of any accidents. We buy home insurance to protect ourselves in the case of a fire…so what would the difference be for a vacation? We still need to protect ourselves, especially because of the fact that we will be away from home!

Make sure your trip is covered from the start, and contact us for more information about travel insurance.
